Making Decor Out of Recycled Materials for Earth Day

For Earth Day, I challenged myself to make cute decor for our dining area, using only recycled materials. The first thing I did, was lay an old fitted sheet down on the table, to use as the tablecloth. I sewed cloth napkins from an old white sheet and used a paper towel tube, cut into strips for the napkin holders and decorated them with clear pebbles.

The centerpiece of the table is made of recycled flowers. For the pink flower, it was part of an apple juice jug, cut and painted, then glued onto a wooden dowel, which was also painted a light green to be the stem. The red flower was made from a lid of a yogurt container, also cut, glued, and painted, and glued onto a wooden dowel. The flowers were placed in a painted soup can-lined with ribbon and a bow. Inside the can were rocks holding the dowels in place and some fake Easter grass made of plastic. I only used things that I had on hand.

All recycled...Fun to make...Cute, Quaint, and Free!
